Community in Oakwood: Social clubs and groups

In London, there are always new places to go and people to meet. Whether you want to try a new hobby, meet people with similar interests or expand your network, Oakwood has plenty of social clubs to help you build a sense of community in North London, all while doing activities you enjoy.

Oakwood Netball Club

If you want to have fun while staying active, check out Oakwood Netball Club. With values rooted in diversity and inclusion, the club welcomes players from across North London, including areas like Islington, Waltham Forest and Barnet.

Offering a supportive community that empowers women to take part in sport, the club has a legacy stretching back over 70 years. It currently has four senior teams that participate in the North London netball league, as well as leagues in Essex and Middlesex.

Trent Park Running Club

Whether you want to join the run club revolution or you’re already a proud pavement pounder, there’s a place for you at Trent Park Running Club. Based at the Southgate Hockey Centre, this North London run club uses the picturesque Trent Country Park as its playground, so you can enjoy the natural scenery on running routes through lush woodlands and along waterways.

It’s open to all abilities, with runs taking place four times a week – Tuesday and Thursday nights at 7 pm, and Saturday and Sunday mornings at 9 am – and you can join as often as you like. The club also has a programme of races and events if you want to showcase your competitive streak, challenge yourself to smash your PB, or participate in a relay race.

Friends of Oakwood Park

Play a pivotal role in your local community by lending a hand to Friends of Oakwood Park. This volunteer group focuses on maintaining Oakwood Park, the neighbourhood’s central green space, located just a short walk from our Cassia development.

Community-focused initiatives include monthly litter picking sessions, gardening and general park maintenance, while social events range from nature walks and wellness sessions to coffee mornings.

Winchmore Hill Supper Club

Connecting with people over the dinner table is one of the best ways to spend an evening in North London. You can do exactly that by joining like-minded foodies at the award-winning Winchmore Hill Supper Club. This social dining club is all about delicious food, good vibes and great company. Events take place at venues across Enfield and showcase a seasonal menu that changes monthly, with each dish designed and cooked by Chef Holly Ashdown.

Enfield Town Repair Café

Launched in late 2025 by The Restart Project with support from Enfield Council, the Enfield Town Repair Café provides a place in North London to learn how to repair items. You can bring along electronic devices, bikes and textiles, extending their life cycle and preventing them from going to landfill. Beyond attending, there are various ways to take part, from hosting and volunteering as a fixer to providing admin support and collecting data.
