Near the Cassia and Nexus apartments in Enfield lies one of North London’s must-visit green spaces: Trent Country Park. Part of the capital’s green belt, the park covers 413 acres of woodlands, brooks and scenic trails, offering a slice of the countryside in the city. 1. Scale the Tree Tops at GoApe

Push yourself outside your comfort zone and get active in a fun, high-octane outdoor environment at GoApe Cockfosters. It’s the most challenging GoApe site in London, with two high ropes courses to choose from depending on how much of a challenge you want.

2. Go Fishing at the Lakes

Boasting two lakes conveniently located next to each other, Trent Country Park is a scenic location for a spot of fishing. Species present in the lakes include carp, pike and bream, ensuring variety in your catch. Fishing is available during the open season, but you must obtain an Environment Agency License to participate.

3. Pet Animals at the Wildlife Centre

Wildlife Rescue & Ambulance Service Enfield is a charity located in the park. You can visit the wildlife centre to meet rescued animals and birds receiving care, including creatures undergoing rehabilitation and residents that cannot be returned to the wild which have a safe, permanent home with the charity. Stop by to meet the residents, such as sheep, ponies and deer, and grab refreshments in the team room before exploring the rest of the park.

4. Saddle Up at Trent Park Equestrian Centre

Trent Park Equestrian Centre is the home of horse riding in London and the Home Counties. A British Horse Society-approved training centre, it offers lessons and courses for all ages and abilities, empowering novices and seasoned pros with the skills they need to ride with confidence. Facilities include indoor and outdoor arenas, show jumps, access to bridlepaths and much more. There’s even an equestrian-themed restaurant on site called Equus Dining, where you can tuck into delicious dishes made with locally sourced ingredients.

5. Explore the Walking and Cycling Routes

Whether you’re in the mood for a nature walk or brisk bike ride, Trent Country Park is full of scenic routes to explore. There’s a network of paths winding around ancient woodlands, water gardens and monuments, and designated trails which are signposted to navigate you in the right direction.

6. Uncover the Secrets of Trent Park House

Trent Park House of Secrets is a museum currently under development and set to open in 2026. Located in the historic Trent Park House, which has sat at the centre of the park since the late 18th century, it will tell the story of the house’s role as a state-of-the-art surveillance centre during WWII and the Secret Listeners who worked there. The museum’s opening will be the culmination of over 10 years of campaigning to conserve the house and enhance Enfield’s cultural offering.

7. Watch the Wildlife

With its meadows, grassy areas and brooks, Trent Country Park provides habitats for various species. From birds to butterflies to rabbits, there’s a whole host of creatures you may encounter when you’re out and about exploring the park.

8. Have a Brew at the Café

When it’s time for refreshments, head to Ripe Kitchen. The café serves speciality coffee, smoothies and homemade food, including sandwiches and cakes, making it the perfect pit stop during days filled with outdoor activities.

9. Southgate Hockey Club

If you want to get involved in a team sport, whether as a player, umpire, coach or volunteer, check out Southgate Hockey Club, which is based in the park. Offering junior and adult memberships, the centre welcomes all skill levels to take part in the sport as well as spectators who simply want to enjoy watching the action.

10. Tee Off at Trent Park Golf Club

Prefer a slower-paced sport? Give golf a go at Trent Park Golf. Voted London’s top golf course, the 18-hole course is open to the public seven days a week. The centre also offers lessons and an adventure course suitable for all ages, making the sport accessible to everyone.
